I spent the whole weekend setting up Windows XP and MediaPortal on my P4 Antec Remote PC.
The Antec iMON remote works quite well with XP. It is able to power on the box (without XP) with the remote power toggle and turn off the box (with XP). I can move the mouse cursor about with the direction button, which is like an IBM Thinkpad 'nipple' (for controlling the mouse).
With MediaPortal setup, I followed some instructions (here and here) to get the application working with the remote and this worked quite well.
I am happy that the Antec case with the remote and iMon software works like a CE device. I measured the power consumption of the Media PC when 'in standby' i.e. OFF, and it consumed 5/6W, which I suppose is not bad and acceptable (but not as good as under 1W some CE devices consume in standby). The PC running XP, in its current configuration (Pinnacle 7010iX, and GeForce 6600LE GPU), consumes about 120W.
I am currently having issues with slow channel changing in MediaPortal, which I have to investigate and solve...
